Financial Literacy Academy

Beginner-to-Expert Learning Path

The academy turns complex money topics into plain English. Learners sign into the Student Portal, build confidence module by module, practice with simulations, and instructors can monitor progress through a protected dashboard.

Module 1

Interest Rates

Interest is the price of borrowing money or the reward for lending/investing money.

Interest = Principal Γ— Rate Γ— Time
Module 2

Credit Scores

Your credit score is a risk signal. Your credit profile is the full story lenders review.

Utilization = Balance Γ· Limit Γ— 100
Module 3

Investing

Investments may earn through appreciation, dividends, interest, cash flow, equity growth, and reinvestment.

Assets βˆ’ Liabilities = Net Worth
APR vs APY

APR is usually used to explain borrowing cost. APY is usually used to explain earning power after compounding. Borrowers watch APR. Savers and investors watch APY.

Good debt vs dangerous debt

Strategic debt can support income, ownership, or stability. Dangerous debt drains cash flow, carries high fees, has unclear terms, or does not create value.

Learn How Money Works β†’ Simulate Smart Decisions β†’ Build a Financial Action Plan

This engine keeps the curriculum adult-friendly. Every module teaches the concept, explains why it matters in real life, connects to a calculator, checks learner confidence, and pushes the learner toward an action step instead of just memorizing definitions.

Module 1

Money Foundation: Cash Flow Before Everything

Why this matters: adults cannot make strong credit, debt, or investing decisions without understanding monthly cash flow.

  • Learn income, expenses, surplus, emergency fund, and money leaks.
  • Calculator connection: Financial Health Dashboard.
  • Real-life example: deciding whether a car payment fits the full monthly budget.
Module 2

Interest Rates: The Price of Money

Why this matters: APR can quietly turn an affordable-looking payment into an expensive decision.

  • Learn APR, APY, simple interest, compound interest, fixed vs variable rates.
  • Calculator connection: Debt/APR and investment calculators.
  • Real-life example: comparing two loans with the same payment but different terms.
Module 3

Credit Scores: Approval Power and Cost

Why this matters: credit affects approval, down payments, monthly costs, insurance in some contexts, and business funding options.

  • Learn utilization, payment history, inquiries, derogatory items, and credit profile strength.
  • Calculator connection: Credit Score Impact Simulator.
  • Real-life example: paying a card down before applying for financing.
Module 4

Debt Strategy: Stop the Drain

Why this matters: debt can either support stability and growth or drain future options.

  • Learn avalanche, snowball, debt service, minimum payment trap, and predatory loan signs.
  • Calculator connection: Debt Payoff + APR Comparison.
  • Real-life example: choosing whether to pay the highest APR or smallest balance first.
Module 5

Investing: Ownership, Risk, and Compounding

Why this matters: investing is how money can work for you, but only after stability and risk awareness.

  • Learn contributions, compounding, diversification, volatility, dividends, and cash flow.
  • Calculator connection: Investment Growth + Freedom Target.
  • Real-life example: separating emergency savings from long-term investment money.
Module 6

Business Credit & Funding Readiness

Why this matters: lenders fund organized businesses with proof, not just ideas.

  • Learn EIN, bank statements, revenue, documents, debt schedule, and use of funds.
  • Calculator connection: Business Funding Checklist + Score.
  • Real-life example: preparing documents before applying so funding does not become desperate.

Learn Before You Calculate

The goal is not just to get a number. The goal is to understand what each number is telling you, why it matters, and what smart decision should come next.

1. Learn the concept in plain English.
2. Run the calculator with real or practice numbers.
3. Read the interpretation and build an action plan.

Financial Health Score

This is a teaching score that combines cash flow, credit power, emergency savings, and investor readiness. It is not an official bank score. It helps you understand financial stability.

0–39

Foundation Mode: fix cash flow, avoid new debt, build stability.

40–69

Builder Mode: lower debt, build emergency savings, improve credit.

70–100

Growth Mode: invest consistently, organize funding documents, acquire assets carefully.

Credit Utilization

Utilization shows how much revolving credit you are using. It is one of the clearest signals of whether you look financially stretched.

  • Under 10%: excellent control.
  • 10–30%: generally controlled.
  • 30–50%: caution zone.
  • Over 50%: pressure zone; lenders may see risk.
Utilization = Credit Card Balances Γ· Credit Limits Γ— 100

Debt Payoff Strategy

Debt payoff has two major methods. Neither is β€œwrong.” The best method depends on whether you need the strongest math or the strongest motivation.

  • Avalanche: attack highest APR first. Usually saves the most interest.
  • Snowball: attack smallest balance first. Creates quick wins and momentum.

Expert thinking: use avalanche when you can stay disciplined; use snowball when motivation is the real barrier.

Investment Growth

Investment calculators are not promises. They are learning tools. They show how contribution amount, time, and assumed return work together.

  • Contributions: money you personally put in.
  • Growth: estimated earnings from compounding.
  • Time: the longer money remains invested, the more compounding can matter.

Smart rule: do not invest emergency money or bill money. Stability comes before risk.

Freedom Number

The freedom number estimates how much invested capital could be needed to produce a desired passive income amount.

Annual Passive Income Needed Γ· Estimated Yield = Freedom Number

If you want $4,000/month, that is $48,000/year. At a 5% yield, the rough capital target is $960,000.

Business Funding Readiness

Funding readiness is not just β€œCan I get approved?” It asks whether the business looks organized, stable, and able to repay.

  • Bank statements show cash flow.
  • Revenue shows repayment ability.
  • Documents show legitimacy.
  • Credit profile affects pricing and approval options.

How to use this: Do not treat the score as judgment. Treat it as a compass. It points to the first financial area that needs attention: cash flow, credit, emergency savings, or investing readiness.
